The Carrier Chapel, designed by Gyo Obata, employs a material utilization similar to that of St. Richard’s Catholic Church. The Carrier Chapel features load bearing brick walls with a concrete beam and roof system hovering – at some moments – over the walls.  At the moments of intersections between walls, a gap is left to allow a moment for a window that reaches from the ceiling to the floor. The whole heavy building appears to be delicately floating over the ground, a concept employed by many modern buildings.
