The Jackson Municipal Library is located in the state’s capital, Jackson, Mississippi. It stands in contrast  with dominant classical style of many other civic buildings on State Street. The library is understood easily by its simple L-shape massing. The face of the building that faces State Street is symmetrical with its centered, gridded windows and smooth surfaces on either side. The complexity of the library lies with its strong relationship with the module, typical of modern architecture. The smallest module is the stone block which is the primary exterior surface. The windows of the building follow the strict modular proportioning.
