The Trustmark Bank Building was built in 1954 in the heart of Jackson, Mississippi, the state’s capitol. The building is fourteen floors tall, making it one of the city’s tallest buildings. In keeping with modern architecture tradition, the Trustmark Bank Building has a simple rectangular massing. The thirteen floors create a large mass which is distinguished by the materiality change on the ground floor. The complexity of the design is in the materiality and proportioning system.  On the ground floor the granite and aluminum are used the exterior finishes relating to pedestrians and street traffic. On the upper floors, the glass and buff brick create an alternating, horizontal banding on the long side of the building enclosed on either end by monolithic limestone walls.
